Obituary

Miguel Alma fell asleep in death on Monday, December 25, 2023 at the age of 80.  Miguel was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on November 12, 1943 to his parents, Juan Alma and Victoria Gomez.  The family relocated to Brooklyn, New York in 1946, where Juan moved to find work.  Some years after the sudden death of his mother, his father Juan remarried and Miguel and his siblings were lovingly raised by his stepmother, Monserrate Pagan.  Miguel did well in school and graduated from Eli Whitney Vocational HS in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in June 1961.

Miguel served his country by joining the US Army in November 1964 for 3 years, during the Vietnam Era, while stationed in Germany.

After returning from the Army, Miguel met and fell in love with Victoria Rodriguez, who also lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  They were married in a small, simple ceremony at home in September 1968. Mike and Vicky were happily married for 30 years and raised three children: Michael, Nancy and Marlene. Together, they set up a warm and loving home on Chestnut Street in Brooklyn where they played, danced and hosted many memorable gatherings in their huge backyard.

Miguel was a responsible hard-working man and a good provider to his family.  He worked for the MTA in NYC as a Signal Maintainer, hardly ever missing a day of work, until his retirement in June 2004.

He is survived by his 3 children and their spouses: Michael & Carmen Nin, Nancy & Lee Owens and Marlene & Shane Titterington; his 4 granddaughters: Jessica Nin and husband Alex Molina, Michelle Nin, Jazmin Langeloh and husband Andrew, and Rebecca Lundgren and husband, Max; as well as his 3 great-grandchildren: Isaiah John Michael Molina, Sienna Victoria Sky Lamback and Riley Lorelei Langeloh.  He is also survived by his brother Angel and wife Eva, as well as many nephews, nieces and friends who remember him fondly as Uncle Mike.

Miguel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Victoria Alma, his parents Juan Alma and Victoria Gomez, his brothers Efrain Alma Perfecto Alma and a sister, Francisca Alma.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to The Gardens of Eastbrooke staff and for the many friends and caregivers who have supported our family throughout this journey.

As a family, we have decided to bury Dads ashes on Sept 6th, 2024 in Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY.
