Obituary

Mildred “Bootsie” Lipscomb, 79, of Edgewater, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, Bootsie moved to Edgewater, Florida, as an infant, where she was raised. Graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in 1964. She spent many years working as a cosmetologist before moving to Texas with her three children. It was during her time in Texas that she met her beloved husband, William B. Lipscomb, Jr

The Army moved them to Huntsville, Alabama where her fourth child was born. Bootsie returned to school and earned her LPN, beginning a Nursing Career. Bill’s Army career took their family from Texas to Germany and then back to Texas. In 1986, they returned to Edgewater, where Mildred continued her nursing career with Florida Health Care until her retirement.

Bootsie is survived by her beloved husband, William B. Lipscomb, Jr.; her children, Harold Warren Barrett III, James Stephen Barrett, Joyce Barrett Schmidt, and Michelle Elaine Lipscomb; and her brother, Earl L. Tingle, Jr. “Skipper.” She leaves behind many beloved grandchildren: Matthew, Brad, and Bryan Barrett; Drew, Devon, Olivia, Nicole, and Aaron Barrett; Joshua, Alec, and Zachery Schmidt; Jordan, Jada, and Jasmine Spoonhour; and Daniel and David Taylor. She was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. Bootsie was predeceased by her parents, Earl L. Tingle and Minnie (Groover) Tingle, and her sister, Janet Tingle.

Bootsie will be remembered most for the love and devotion she gave to her family and for the lasting place she held in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy will live on through her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many lives she touched throughout her 79 years.

The family will receive friends, 9:00 am – 11 am, Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the 1st Baptist Church of Edgewater located at 130 E Park Ave, Edgewater, FL 32132. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Sea Pines Cemetery Edgewater. Arrangements are by Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society, New Smyrna Beach, FL.

She will be lovingly remembered, deeply missed, and forever cherished
