Monty Ray Gatch, Jr. , a beloved Father, Brother, Companion, and Community Member, passed away on September 3, 2024. Born in Eustis on March 9, 1960, Monty was known for his big heart and gentle nature. He would give the shirt off his back to a friend in need and was known for his hardworking spirit as a family man.
Monty was passionate about many things in life, particularly hunting, fishing, football and his sons. As a past football player and a loyal fan of the Florida Gators, his love for the sport was evident to all who knew him. Monty also enjoyed coaching baseball and had a profound impact on the community through his dedication to coaching Little League baseball and his involvement in his church's charitable activities.
Monty is survived by his sons, Matthew Gatch and Samuel Gatch, his loving companion Debbie Morton and his cherished sisters Vera Gatch Steinfeld and Susan Gatch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Monty Ray Gatch Sr. and Jean Fleming Gatch, as well as his sister, Sally Gatch Wessle
Monty will be remembered as a "Big Gentle Giant" who was always ready to lend a helping hand and as someone who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he cherished. Go Gators!
Public Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Umatilla, 550 Hatfield Dr, Umatilla, FL 32784 from 1:30 pm – 2pm, with a Funeral Service beginning at 2pm.
Following the Funeral Service, Monty will be laid to rest at Lakeside Memory Gardens, 36601 N County Rd 19A, Eustis, FL 32726.
