Morris Lee Crabtree, affectionately known as Lee, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on August 30, 1937, in Clintwood, Virginia, he was the son of the late Aaron and Tina Crabtree.

Lee was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend. He was married to the love of his life, Shirley Widmyer Crabtree, for 51 years until her passing in 2014. Together, Lee and Shirley built a life filled with family, hard work, and many cherished memories. After retirement, they made their home in Port Orange, Florida, where Lee continued to reside until his passing.

Lee proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1961, serving both overseas and abroad. Following his honorable discharge, he continued a life defined by hard work and dedication. He opened Crabtree’s Atlantic Gas Station and Garage and later worked as an electrician for Marvin C. Cowherd. He also became a self-employed electrical contractor before beginning a long career with Fairfax County, where he served as a Senior Electrical Inspector/Supervisor until his retirement in 1995.

Lee will be remembered for his strong work ethic, independence, determination, and dedication to those he loved. Above all, his greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind.

He is survived by his three sons, Billy (Stacey) Crabtree of Gore, Virginia; Matt (Heather) Crabtree of Surfside, South Carolina; and Trevor Crabtree of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. He is also survived by his two beloved granddaughters, Megan and Lindsey, Sister, Ann Crabtree Abell of Myrtle Beach SC, and his special friend, Gene Mangum of Port Orange.

In addition to his parents, Aaron and Tina Crabtree, and his beloved wife, Shirley, Lee was preceded in death by his brother, Gail Crabtree.

Lee lived a long and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, service, and family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local Port Orange SPCA in Lee’s memory.
