Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Myrtle Antonette Eulette Henry
Myrtle Antonette Eulette Henry was born in Jamaica and lived a life rooted in faith, service, and family. From an early age, she displayed a compassionate spirit that guided her lifelong dedication to caring for others.
Myrtle graduated in 1977 from the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) School of Nursing, Jamaica. She served with distinction at Kingston Public Hospital and UHWI. She then migrated to the United States, where she continued her nursing career at Holy Cross Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Family Health Centre in Dade County, Barry University School of Nursing, North Broward Hospital District to list a few. She specialized in critical care, internal medicine, and community health.
Myrtle earned two Master’s degrees—one in Nursing and another in Public Health from Emory University. She was highly respected as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. She later pursued doctoral studies in Public Health at Walden University, completing her coursework before illness prevented her from finishing her thesis.
Myrtle dedicated her career to teaching and mentoring nurses, serving as an instructor at Barry University and ITT Technical Institute, where she rose to Program Chair. She then worked as an ARNP in correctional facilities across Charlotte and Desoto counties and later joined the Sarasota County Health Department. Myrtle retired after 41 years of distinguished service in nursing.
Myrtle found her greatest joy in her family. She was married to her beloved husband, Karl ‘Bas’ Henry, and was a devoted mother to Kevin and grandmother to Kaylin.
Her life was a testament to compassion, resilience, and excellence. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faith that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her husband, son, granddaughter, brothers, extended family, and many dear friends.
