The Villages

Obituary

Nancy H. Ashton, 86, of The Villages, FL, passed away on September 13, 2026. Nancy was born in Rochester, NY, on July 9, 1940. She graduated from Highland Hospital nursing school in 1961.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ray, her parents, brother Bob, and her sister, Pat.

Nancy is survived by her children Bill (Anne), Karen, and David (Sheri). She had six grandchildren: John (Maria), Peter (Maggie), Sarah (Matt) Forn of, Ben (Kara), Emily, and Dylan. She had eleven great-grandchildren: Emma, Brooks, Beckham, Bowen, Nora, Emmett, Lila, Harper, Ellie, Lily, and Oaklee. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She loved to travel, golf, play bridge, play board games, watch sports, and spend time with her family and friends. Nancy also loved to send cards to her friends and family. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, and friend. She will forever be remembered as "Nanny."

A caring nurse by profession, she dedicated her early career to helping others before making the decision to stay home and raise her children. As her family grew older, she returned to caregiving, working in an assisted living facility where she provided comfort, kindness, and companionship to the elderly.

For ten and a half long years, she courageously battled cancer. Through every challenge, treatment, and setback, she displayed incredible strength, faith, resilience, and grace. She never stopped loving her family and friends, and her unwavering devotion touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. We are also immensely grateful that we were able to travel to Texas recently for a family wedding, giving us the precious opportunity to spend time together, make lasting memories, and see everyone before her passing.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

2 Timothy 4:7

A Celebration of Life will be held in Rochester, New York, at White Haven Memorial Park. The date and time will be announced later.
