Nancy was born on October 5, 1929 in Kilmanock, Campile, County Wexford, Ireland. She passed away peacefully after a brief illness on August 3, 2026 in Venice, Florida.

Nancy was born on a small farm in Ireland to John and Rebecca Carroll (Ashe) and grew up there along with her 12 siblings. She left Ireland at a young age to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse and seeing the world. She lived and worked as a nurse in England and Australia, before moving to the US (Chicago) in the early 1960s. She worked at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois for the rest of her career- advancing to head nurse of the psychiatric floor until her retirement.

In 1979 she married John O’Grady and they lived in Burbank, Illinois until his passing. Then she followed the sun and warm weather to Venice, Florida where she happily lived out her days in her dream home on a golf course.

Nancy is survived by her sister-in-law Anne Carroll, and by many nieces and nephews around the world. She will be remembered for being fiercely independent and never afraid to speak her mind. Her courage and determination are an inspiration to her family.
