IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy Jane
Koehler
August 23, 1932 – April 21, 2025
It is with deep love and sorrow that we share the passing of Nancy Jane Koehler, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who died peacefully in her home on April 21, 2025.
The daughter of John Vincent and Emma Gertrude Ryan she grew up in Laurelton, New York and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School.
Nancy was married to Charles Jerome Koehler (d.2018) and they raised their 4 children in Babylon, New York. There Nancy wore "many hats" including homemaker, cub scout den mother, Little League Auxiliary member, member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, retail salesperson, bus driver, travel agent and transportation dispatcher. A lifelong "crafter," she somehow found time to express her artistic talents making ceramics, blankets, pillows, etc. for friends, family, and those in need.
Nancy lived her life and led her family with the values of faith, hard work, kindness, and perseverance. Her children, friends and family will always remember Nancy for her dedication and commitment to any responsibility she took on, which were many.
During her later years, after moving to Florida, Nancy became to be known by her family as a "serial caregiver." She sequentially cared for a number of people who could no longer care for themselves, not the least of which were her mother "Gertrude," her husband Charles, and her daughter-in-law Diane Koehler. In addition, Nancy continued to work outside the home (Avis Rental Car and Publix Supermarkets) until she was forced to "retire" at 88 years of age due to the Covid-19 pandemic. All her adult life her family knew that it was hard to keep "Hurricane Nancy" from her appointed rounds.
Since her "retirement," she has enjoyed her time at St. Timothy's R.C. Church in Lady Lake, FL as well as the company of her fellow Mah-Jong players (especially Mary Ann) and crafters in The Villages.
Nancy is survived by her brother John Ryan, her children Katie, Glenn (m. Kathleen), Charles, and Michael (m. Victoria); her grandchildren Kimberlee Koehler (m. Christopher Borkowski), Emily Skaff (m. Parker), Abigail Wachsler (m. Andrew), Ryan Koehler and Lucas Koehler.
Nancy has joined her heavenly Father with her previously deceased parents John and Gertrude, her husband Charles J. Koehler, her sister Joan Vorbach, her grandson Brett Koehler, and her daughter-in-law Diane Koehler.
The family would like to thank the people of VITAS Healthcare {especially her nurse Maylin), and the caregivers at Visiting Angels The Villages (especially her caregiver Kendra) for their loving care in allowing Nancy to spend her final months at home.
Nancy's life of humble servitude, kind spirit and energetic presence will be missed, but eternally remembered by all who knew her. Today she rests with God.
Nancy requested a private funeral for her family.
