IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy
Stone
October 29, 1942 – March 4, 2025
Nancy Joyce Stone (Giroux) from the Community of Harbor Hills in Lady Lake, FL passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 4, 2025 at Freedom Pointe Assisted Living/Memory Care in The Villages, FL to be with our Savior Jesus Christ after a 14-year fight with Alzheimer's Disease. Nancy was 82 years old. She was born on October 29,1942 in Elmira, NY. She was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy High School in Elmira, NY and Cortland State Teacher's College in Cortland, NY, graduating with a BS in Mathematics, multiple teaching certifications, and presented her innovative teaching methods multiple times at the NY State Annual Teachers Conference. Nancy is survived by her husband of 56 years William J Stone Jr., who is incredibly proud to have had her for his loving wife, best friend, and mother of their two wonderful children William (Jane) Stone II of Manchester, MA and Scott (Heather) Stone of Peachtree City, GA; grandchildren Thomas, Erin, Lauren and Elizabeth; siblings Bonnie (John) Page of Bath, NY and Dexter (Lucy) Giroux of Garden City, MI; sisters-in-law Rennie (John) Frisk, Tessie Richard, and Jean Woodard; family member Sue Park of Waverly, NY; and many nieces, nephews, and their families. She is predeceased by her parents George and Marian Giroux, sister Camille Meek, sister-in-law Marilyn Dickinson, and brothers-in-law Pete Richard and Jerry Woodard.
Nancy was a positive person, said hi or complimented everyone she encountered whether she knew them or not, always had a ready smile, and loved life and dancing with her husband. She enjoyed tennis, golf, extended family vacations, and time with her family and friends. Principals meant it when they said "she's the best teacher I've ever seen." She loved teaching, helping others, and was quick to volunteer for a worthy cause. She anonymously purchased and donated kids clothing etc. to needy families at Christmas where she taught. She lived by and taught "do your best", "you can do it", "family first", was the patient and thoughtful peacemaker, and made every house they lived in a loved filled "home".
