Obituary

Nicholas R. Jackston, 95, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed away suddenly with his family at his side on August 1st. Formally of St Petersburg, FL and Manchester, CT, he was an avid golfer and loved to dance. A retired history teacher, former semi-pro baseball player for the Cardinals and varsity baseball coach in East Hartford CT, he led his team to 3 CDC championships and 1 State Championship, and was named coach of the year in 1971 and loved baseball until his death. He was dedicated to the town of Manchester, active in politics, serving for many years on the Zoning Board of Appeals, and as town liaison to the country club. He was a faithful member of St. James Parrish in Manchester, CT. and Holy Cross Catholic Church in St Petersburg, Fl. He is survived by Phyllis, his loving wife of 70 years, Bob, his son and wife Louise Jackston, Carol, his daughter and her husband Brian Gregory, all of Florida. His grandchildren, his pride and joy, Brian Jackston and his wife Brittany of Ellington, Ct, Gregory Jackston, and his wife Irene Jackston of Mahopac, New York, and Jessica Romeo and her husband Ken of Andover, Ct and his 3 great grandchildren, Kayla, Joseph and Blake. He will be sorely missed by all.
