Obituary

Nina Jean justice Bailey, 89 of Cocoa, Florida passed away on May 7, 2026. She was born on May 3, 1937, to Herman and Mary Lee Justice in Marion, NC. She was the 12th child and the 9th girl (she was named Nina after being the 9th girl born).

She lived in Marion until her father passed away on December 31,1942, Mary Lee Justice and nine of her twelve children moved to Candler, NC where they remained until Nina was about 16 years old.

Mary Lee and Nina moved to Miami, Florida and lived with Nina’s sister Martha and her family. While in Miami, she attended church there. One Sunday, 3 US Marines walked into that church and lives were changed that day. Six months after meeting, Nina Jean and Virgil Ray “Bill” eloped and were married in Folkston, Georgia on May 29, 1954, and they were married for 70 years, until his passing in 2024. They were the love of each other’s lives.

Nina Jean spent her life devoted to her beloved husband. She enjoyed being a homemaker, baker, gray lady at the local schools, Activities Director at Asbury Arms, loved tending to their garden, spending time in the NC mountains, walks along the beach with her sweetheart, and being a Granny to her 5 granddaughters, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandson.

Nina Jean Justice Bailey will be interred at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL in a private ceremony, next to the love of her life, her Bill Bailey.

She loved the Lord and taught us all to do the same. I take great comfort in knowing that she and Daddy are reunited on high, walking the streets of gold hand in hand, healed, whole and watching over us all.

She will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her. We all are far better for having her in our lives – for all the love, laughter, love of the Lord and her ability to turn a stranger quickly into a friend.

We love you!

We will have a Celebration of Life for Mother on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 1PM - 4PM at The Plant Shack, located at 5800 US-1, Cocoa, FL 32927.
