Noel
Santella
May 17, 1943 – May 2, 2020
Noel Byran Santella 05-17-1943 (Nello) passed peacefully on May 2 nd at Cornerstone Hospice. Noel grew up in the hills of SW Pennsylvania where the woods were his friend. He hunted only for food and was pleased to bring home dinner, a rabbit or pheasant, to his Grandparents who raised him. He learned to box and was a Golden Gloves. A neighbor, Pat Thompson, was like a father to him and took him fishing, on picnics, to the movies and was an inspiration to him. Noel served his country in in the Army in Vietnam, which he rarely spoke about, and earned a purple heart.
Noel met Erica in summer 1983 and they married in 1992 and together they enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: walking in the woods, movies (and popcorn!), eating out, and of course all of their adopted dogs. Noel preferred the older or unwanted dogs to the adorable younger ones. He wanted to give them a nice few years of life. Consider adopting a Senior Pet at your local animal shelter. He loved the animals and feeding the birds and squirrels was a delight.
Noel worked construction most of his life, but also did chemical grouting in coal mines. For 12 years he ran a successful business at Renninger's Antique and Flea Market. Noel had an artistic flair and could make and find the most interesting things. He had a kind heart and would give things away to people in need. Nello will be missed. Kia!
