Obituary

Norbert Thomas Ruzecki, known affectionately as "Norby," passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in Leesburg, Florida, at the age of eighty-seven. Born on March 10, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, Norbert dedicated 30 years of service to the City of Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation, retiring as a General Foreman. His commitment to his work was paralleled by his devotion to his family and friends.

Norbert's personality was marked by his easy-going nature, kindness, generosity, big smile, and a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. He was a beloved figure not only within his family, but also among his friends and neighbors.

A man of many interests, Norbert enjoyed cruising, visiting casinos, and staying physically fit. His love for spending time with family was evident in every aspect of his life, providing countless cherished memories.

Norbert is survived by a loving family, including his children Kathy (Jim) Agnew, Dennis (late Debi) Ruzecki, Marty (Nancy) Ruzecki, Pamela (Dennis) Koutavas, Robert Ruzecki; his life partner Donna Stockwell, her children Michael (Alyssa) Stockwell, Michelle (Scott) Belzer, his grandchildren Janice (Patrick) Kinney, Michael (Kaitlyn) Agnew, Kevin (Jenny) Agnew, Bonnie Ruzecki, Steven (Jackie) Haske, Tommy Ruzecki, Daniel (Chloe) Koutavas, Christin Koutavas, Amanda (Caleb) Stuart, Kaitlyn Belzer, Nicole (Michael) Mojica, McKayla Stockwell, Kaleb Stockwell, fifteen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and numerous relatives continue to honor his legacy. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gloria, daughter Chrissy Ruzecki, and nine siblings.

Funeral services for Norbert will be conducted privately in Chicago, Illinois at the discretion of his family. Baldwin Brothers Funeral home of The Villages, Florida, is assisting the family during this time. Norbert's life and spirit will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
