Obituary

Norma Jean Cullifer (84) passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2024, with family by her side. Jean was born on December 31, 1939 in Roanoke, VA to Ernest Wesley and Dorothy Hortense Graham Anderson. She was affectionately known as Norma Jean, Jean, Aunt Jeannie, Ms. Jean, Skeeter, Mom and Granny throughout her life's journey.

Jean graduated from Winter Park High School in Central Florida in 1958 and soon after married  Grover R. Cullifer (Ray/Buddy) in 1960. In 1965 they adopted their son, Tracy A. Cullifer (Tac) and in 1967 adopted their daughter, Kathryn E. Cullifer (Kathy).

Jean was a loving housewife and dedicated mom. She loved hunting and the outdoors. Raising Walker Hound dogs led Jean and Ray to be members of the Central Florida Fox Hunters Club. Jean was also very involved with the Azalea Park Little League, even serving as President for many years.

As her children grew older, Jean jumped into her new calling as a Mary Kay Cosmetics Consultant. As her passion grew, so did her success. She attended many conferences around the country including the annual Dallas, Texas event where Mary Kay herself lived. Jean advanced with the company to Senior and Regional levels and was even invited to Mary Kay's home, and earned a coveted Mary Kay Car.

After retiring, Jean and Ray loved to travel. Their adventures took them to Australia, Cancun, Cozumel, and Hawaii. They enjoyed several cruises and took 7 months RVing throughout the beautiful United States following the NASCAR Circuit and going to Major League Baseball Games.

As avid baseball fans, Jean and Ray loved their local team, Stetson University. They followed the team beginning in the early 2000's, meeting many young, talented players and their parents, developing close life-long friendships. They were privileged to watch several of these players from Stetson advance to the professional level in the MLB.

Jean also loved participating in her Winter Park High School class reunions and took great pride in helping plan and organize their 50 th class reunion.

Jean is survived by her loving daughter, Kathryn E. Cullifer, and her granddogs Brock and Brielle; daughter-in-law, Virginia and grandchildren Chase and Cayla Cullifer; brother-in-law, Robert A. and his wife Connie Cullifer; sister-in-law, Donna G. and her husband Buddy Jackson; sister-in-law, Barbara J. Anderson; and many loving and caring cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jean is preceded in death by her husband Grover R. Cullifer, her brother Richard L. Anderson, and her son Tracy A. Cullifer.

Jean's "Celebration of Life" will be held at The Artisan Alley Garage in downtown DeLand, Florida on March 3, 2024. We will gather around 2:00 pm with services provided by Brooks Braswell of First Baptist Church of Umatilla starting promptly at 3:00 pm. Please dress casually as we celebrate Jean's life. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to support the Parkinson's Foundation at Advent Health West Volusia Neurology (information enclosed).

Thank you for all your love and support.

In every way Jean was a beautiful lady.

We love and will miss her dearly.
