Norma Faye Payne, affectionately known as “Cherokee,” passed away on October 20, 2026, surrounded by the memories and love of those who knew her.

Norma found joy in the simple things in life. She loved reading, needlepoint, and most of all, spending time with her beloved Pekingese, Marco, who was a special companion to her.

She leaves behind her loving children, Sanya Paeglow of Florida, Janet Hebert of Maine, and Hank Rowe of North Carolina; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her memory and legacy.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, John and Evelyn Truitt; her daughter, Michelle Griffen; her brothers, Eddie, John, and James; and her sister, Erma.

In honor of Norma's love for animals, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a local animal shelter.

Norma will be remembered with love and dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
