Norman Lee "Pete" Carmack, a 95-year-old veteran and former air traffic controller, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025. ​ Born in 1929 in Johnson City, Tennessee, Pete served in the United States Air Force and later had a successful career guiding flights as an air traffic controller. ​ He was predeceased by his wife, Ina Carmack, in 2022, and is survived by his children, LeeAnn, Dan (with daughter-in-law Bonnie), stepdaughter Patty Spencer, and grandchildren Amy and Austin (with fiancée Lisa). ​ Pete was remembered for his quiet dignity, love for family, and dedication to his work. ​ Private services will be held, and memorial donations can be made to veterans' charities in his honor.
