Norman Vincent Robben, 79, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, after a long illness against which he courageously fought. He was surrounded by his family.
Born outside St. Louis, Missouri, to Vincent and Alyce Robben, Norman grew up with strong values of family and community and spoke fondly of Sunday family bakes. A longtime nursing home administrator, he used his knowledge of the health care system generously; guiding families, including his own, through appointments, insurance claims, and care decisions until every need was met.
Known as Norm to those close to him, he was a generous and thoughtful man who reliably offered help before anyone had to ask, always putting the needs of others before those of himself. Norm took a genuine interest in people and their lives, always remembering the smallest personal details. Endlessly curious, he never stopped learning; he read widely, asked good questions, and was always ready to talk about whatever had most recently caught his interest. He was a natural tinkerer, happiest when he was taking something apart to see how it worked and putting it back together– better than before. Norm was born to grill, loved babysitting his grandpugs, and found a little slice of heaven on Earth during crisp Sunday drives in his classic Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible.
Above all, Norman took genuine pride in his family; thrilled with both the most significant of his children’s milestones, as well as, seemingly unimportant achievements. Nothing brought him more joy than his grandchildren, Evelyn and Wes. He lit up when they were near, and he treasured every visit, daily phone call, and small moment he shared with them.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Genevieve; his four children, Christopher and his wife Amanda, Victoria, Alyson and her husband Eastman and their daughter Evelyn, and Jonathan and his wife Katherine and their son Wes; his siblings, Shirley, Jean, Maureen, and Robert; and his brother-in-law, Victor, and sister-in-law, Lois Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Alyce.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 16, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society, 290 Nicholas Parkway NW, Unit 19, Cape Coral, FL 33991.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Norman’s memory to Guardian Angels for Special Populations, which supports adults with special needs. Norm served on its board, a commitment that grew from his care for Lois Ann, a participant since 1990. (myspecialpops.org/donate)
