Bobby Richard Locke, 89, of the Villages, Florida, died September 1st, 2025 in The Villages with son at his bedside.
Bobby was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee where he lived with his Mother, Father and his twin sisters. He worked in his parents 3 restaurants, Locke Brothers restaurants, and was a multi sport athlete in high school and played football in college at Mississippi State and then MTSU. He was a beloved teacher and a 2x State Championship basketball coach in Shelbyville, TN, and then taught at Apopka High School for many years where he retired after 35 years of teaching. When he retired from teaching he and his wife, June Locke, moved to The Villages where they enjoyed 22 years being with friends, playing golf and serving at the New Covenant Methodist Church of The Villages, Florida.
Bobby had many friends and never met a stranger. He was known to many as "Luke" as well as "The Bobby Locke" by his golfing buddies and affectionately known as Paw Paw by his many grandchildren.
Bobby lost his wife of 22 years in December 2024 and is survived by his only child, David (Kim) Locke of Ball Ground, Ga. and his 4 step children: Sherri (Roy) Chockley of Nashville, TN; Michelle (Steve) Hindman of Russellville, KY; Juli (Mike) Rice of Milan, TN; Wyatt (Carey) Taylor of Alpharetta, GA; David (Kim) Locke of Ball Ground, GA; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Blondell Locke, his twin sisters, Geraldine and Earline Locke, his wife, June Locke as well as his 2nd wife, BJ Rice, and 1st wife Judy Locke (mother of David Locke).
A service will be held to celebrate his life on Friday , October 24th at 5pm at Freedom Pointe located at 1550 El Camino Real, The Villages Fl. 32159 in the Ballroom there.
