Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Calah Anita Farinha, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on November 29, 2025, at the age of 83. Calah was born on October 10, 1942, in Guyana, South America, to George Humphreys and Rachel Vansluytman, who both preceded her in death.
Calah's journey took her from her vibrant homeland to the bustling streets of New York, where she dedicated herself to a career as a home attendant. Her vocation reflected her nurturing spirit, as she cared for the elderly with unparalleled devotion and love. She was a beacon of kindness and compassion, always putting the needs of others before her own.
On January 20, 1963, Calah married Herman Farinha, the love of her life, beginning a beautiful partnership that lasted for decades. Together, they built a loving home and raised a family that became the cornerstone of her life. Calah's legacy lives on through her children: Sheron Farinha Spence, Teresa Vanessa Supersaad, Roger Farinha, and Dr. Joy Farinha Bonnaig. She is also survived by her cherished sons-in-law, Pablo Bonnaig and Adrian Supersaad; her daughters-in-law, Jennie and Vanessa "V" Farinha, who she adored as her own.
Calah was preceded in death by her son, George Farinha, a loss that weighed heavily on her heart, yet she remained a pillar of strength for her family. She was the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren: Daniel, Keith, Natasha, Michael, Nyles, Nicholas, Cere, Kevin, Kyle, Cimarron, Kayla and Aliyah. Her legacy continues with her great-grandchildren: Anastasia, Emily, Rachel, Uriah, Aurora, Zia, Elijah, Isaiah, Greyson, and Zara, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Calah loved deeply and unconditionally. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, where she lovingly cared for all her grandchildren as babies, ensuring they never had to go to daycare. Her kitchen was always filled with the aroma of her delicious cooking and baking, particularly her famous black cake, which will be cherished in her family's memories. Calah found solace in music, often heard singing Christian hymns, country music, especially Charlie Pride, or sweet lullabies to her grandbabies, her voice a soothing presence in their lives.
As we gather to honor her memory, we invite those who knew and loved Calah to join us for her funeral service on December 12, 2025. Viewing will be at Baldwin Brothers, 2036 Sprint Blvd Unit 10 Apopka, FL 32703 10:00-11:30 AM; Funeral Services 1:00 PM, St. Augustine Catholic Church, 375 Sunset Dr. N, Casselberry, FL 32707; Burial Following Funeral at Queen of Angels Cemetery, 1901 Queen of Angels Dr. Winter Park, FL 32792; A reception will follow at San Pedro-95 Bishop Grady Lane, Winter Park, FL 32792.
