Obituary

Carmen Rosa Zayas-Bazan, 87, of the Tall Trees village located in The Villages, Florida, passed away on November 3, 2025.

Carmen was born in Santiago de Cuba to Dr. Jorge Carlos Mestre and Carmelina Martinez-Aparicio on September 20, 1938.   She married Hector Zayas-Bazan on July 16, 1961, in Santiago de Cuba shortly before immigrating to the United States where they would build their future careers and family together.  Carmen retired from Merrill Lynch where she worked as an Administrative Assistant for over 20 years.   Carmen was involved in many social groups in The Villages, such as the Christian Women, Red Hat Queens, Home Decorating Club, and Tall Trees Ladies.  She loved to play Bunco, Mah-Jongg, and Cards with her friends.

Carmen is preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Jorge Carlos Mestre II who passed in 2023.

Carmen is survived by her husband, Hector, her daughter, Christina and spouse Michael of Miami, Florida, her son, Carlos of The Villages, Florida and her grandchildren, Nicolas and Dominic of Miami, Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30am on Friday, November 21, 2025, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1351 Paige Place, Lady Lake, FL 32159.
