Obituary

Carolyn Gay Gross of The Villages, FL passed away on November 1, 2025.

Carolyn was born on October 5th, 1953, at King George V Hospital in Camperdown (Sydney), NSW, Australia. She was the first-born daughter to Shirley Jean and Billee Bollmann Stringer. Elder and only sibling to sister Julie Anne Alderson (Stringer).

Carolyn was born and educated Anglican. She attended Woodley Preparatory School, Lane Cove in Sydney NSW and Sceggs Redlands (Sydney Church of England Girls Grammar School) located in Cremone, NSW, Australia.

Carolyn met her husband, David Gross in Torremolinos, Spain as a young girl traveling the world with her sister. David was on leave from Saudi Arabia where he worked in Materials Management. They stayed in touch by 'aerogram' in those days and met up in many locations around the globe before marrying in Southern California in 1979. They spent the early years of their marriage on a job site in Venezuela, then settled back in Southern California where both their two sons Billy and Bradley were born.

Friends were very important to Carolyn and she made many wherever she lived. She loved life and socializing. While it was a big move for a 26-year-old girl from Sydney, she adapted well to her new life in America, embraced the opportunity and, while she may never have lost her Australian accent she became an American but, in her heart, she always called Australia home.

She is survived by her sister Julie Alderson, husband David Allen Gross and her two sons William David Gross and Bradley Stuart Gross and his wife Kaitlyn. Can't forget her nieces and nephews Lauren, Mitchell and Lisa, and her favorite Grand Dogs Reese and Bear.
