IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn
Hullinger
November 22, 1934 – September 12, 2025
Carolyn Jane Hullinger died peacefully in her sleep on September 12, 2025. She was born November 22, 1934, in Hillsboro, IN to the late James & Hester Edna Brown.
Carolyn enjoyed her childhood with siblings Edythe, Jean, "Liz," Bill, and Jim. At a young age, Carolyn accepted Christ and began her Christian journey. Her life changed when she met Roy who became the love of her life. They married (Roy, 18 and Carolyn, 15) in a double ceremony, with Roy's cousin and his fiancée, at their pastor's house on July 28, 1950. They obtained a lease for a gas station in Lafayette, IN and Carolyn was by Roy's side supporting and encouraging him all along the way.
Their family expanded over the years with Darrell Lee born July 2, 1951; Rhonda Jean – September 7, 1953; Keith Brian – May 27, 1960 and Michael Roy "Mickey" – April 13, 1967.
In 1958, Carolyn & Roy moved to Orlando to enjoy the warmer weather, increased gas station business, and the Florida lifestyle. Carolyn worked at Fairway Markets in Orlando eventually obtaining a position with The Orlando Sentinel as the Head Cashier in the Finance Department, retiring after 25 years. In the years of raising her family, she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and crocheting along with boating, skiing and attending all the ball games and activities that go along with raising four children. In the early 70's she began attending and serving at Colonial Church of the Nazarene in Orlando. In 1984, after they moved to Astatula, she and Roy began attending Apopka Calvary and served there until they were no longer physically able. Over the years, Carolyn served as Missionary President, greeter, kitchen helper and, in her younger days, even helped with janitorial duties. She loved the church and its people and made sure she was in the foyer every Sunday to greet every person coming through the doors with open arms and hugs. Later in life, with Roy by her side, they traveled annually to Arkansas to support their daughter's business – he was known as the "Mum Man" and she would ride along on the bread truck to make deliveries or sit by the roadside selling mums with Roy. For years, she also supported the Apopka High School softball team by cooking and helping in the concession stand.
Carolyn was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, Roy Lee, on August 30, 2023 and her
favorite
much loved son, Darrell Lee, on August 20, 2014. She is survived by daughter – Rhonda Hullinger Huber (Brewer), son – Keith (Judy), and son – Michael (Sharon). Carolyn treasured her 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and was always excited to see them all and grateful for their time together.
