In Loving Memory of David Lee Young
December 28, 1940 – October 2, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of David Lee Young, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful servant. David passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life marked by integrity, service, and compassion.
David was born on December 28, 1940, in Lorain, OH. He graduated from Lorain High School and went on to earn a degree in Economics from Otterbein College, followed by an Accounting degree from Defiance College.
He proudly served in the United States Army as a linguist, specializing in Korean. During his service, he was stationed in Korea and Japan, experiences that instilled in him a lifelong appreciation for language, culture, and international perspective.
David began his accounting career at Campbell's Soup Company in Ohio, later joining Miller Brewing Company in Albany, GA. He then took an entrepreneurial path, founding Business Counselors of Albany, where he served local businesses with excellence and dedication. After relocating to The Villages, FL, he continued his accounting practice for another 25 years, faithfully serving his clients and community.
David's life was anchored in his Christian faith. He had a heart for missions and traveled to India, Brazil, and Cuba, sharing hope and support through mission work. He volunteered for 16 years with the Residents Encounter Christ (REC) jail ministry and also served in prison ministries in Albany, GA—ministering with humility and genuine care for others.
David was a lifelong baseball fan, especially devoted to the Cleveland Indians, and passionately followed his Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved to travel the world with his wife Schuyler, and together they created a lifetime of memories.
David is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Schuyler Young; three daughters: Shannon (Jeff) Sheffield, Dina McDonald, Shireem (Chris) Rich; grandchildren: Lauren Culbreth, Lane Culbreth, Kelsey McDonald, Slade McDonald, Carson (Skylar) Rich, Sydney Rich; great-grandchildren: Aiden Taylor, Luka Culbreth.
David will be remembered for his faith, kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength. His life was one of humble service and deep love for his family, community, and the Lord.
