Obituary

AWC (ret.) E. Robert Conrad

March 19, 1952 – August 16, 2025

Surrounded by his U.S. Navy flight crew and their wives; his brother, Gary and his wife, Joanne, and their daughter, Amanda; a few close friends and his wife, Deborah, he sweetly smiled while the Cornerstone Hospice chaplain prayed. As the "Navy Hymn" played softly, General Johnson presented him with the Medal of Valor. The men laid hands on him and sang "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" peacefully closing his eyes he entered into eternal rest.

Robert was born in Pottstown, PA. Graduated from Boyertown High School in 1970. He served as a volunteer firefighter in Boyertown, PA and Jacksonville, FL from 1969 – 2011.

From 1970-1994 Robert served in the U.S. Navy, stationed for most of his career at NAS Jacksonville as an anti-submarine operator on the P3 Orion with VP56, VP30, VP16, and VP24 searching for enemy submarines, with deployments half way around the world.

During his free time, he officiated flag football, softball, volleyball and wrestling. In The Villages he "cut a rug "dancing Disco, Country Waltz and Tango; acted as Vice President of the Retired Military Family Group; Military Ball planning committee; and Ministry Assistant at Hope Lutheran Church.

He will be remembered by his sense of humor; infectious laugh; a hand shake and "welcome home" greeting to every military veteran; his outgoing friendliness to everyone he met and his strong religious faith.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Reidenaur Conrad and Catherine Mae (Hollenbach) Conrad who were residents of Pottstown, PA.

Funeral Arrangements: Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 9:15 A.M. in Hope Lutheran Church, 250 Avenida Los Angelos, The Villages, FL.

Internment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell: 11:30 A.M.

A reception will be held at the Lopez Legacy Country Club Restaurant,
