Gary H. Thistle of Sarasota, FL passed away on November 17, 2025. Gary was born in Boston March 27, 1952, and lived on Cape Cod before moving to Sarasota. On Cape Cod he ran a construction business (Thistle Construction) for many years.  After moving to Sarasota, Gary pursued many varied interests from Real Estate to merchant mariner to woodworking.

Gary may be best known for cooking and sharing 40lb turkey's on Thanksgiving for family.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Peggy (Dalzell) Thistle of Sarasota.  Daughter Juliet (Klimecka) Coggins of Sarasota; daughter Amanda (Thistle) Shurtleff of Sarasota.  Son-in-law Jimmy Shurtleff of Sarasota. Along with his grandchildren Lori and Kaitlyn and Brooke and Andrew.

Sister Betty Nickowal and brother-in law Mark Nickowal of Martha's Vineyard; sister-in-law Vicki Thistle of Sarasota. As well as beloved nephews and nieces.

A private family gathering will be planned for spring.
