Obituary

James Thomas Borton, 64, of Apopka, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones on October 9th, 2025.

Jim was born on February 26, 1961 in Corry, PA to Allen Foster Borton and Grace Doris Stoudt Borton. He grew up on Blue Eye Rd in Spring Creek, PA with an older sister and two older brothers. He attended Corry schools and graduated from Corry Area High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he was part of the wrestling team and earned his degree in Hospitality and Business Management, before moving to Florida.

He worked in retail management and accounting management until he very happily retired in 2023 and began working for his wife around the home. He was always known for his strong work ethic and being the perfect gentleman. Beyond his professional life, Jim most enjoyed spending time with his wife and children, visiting national parks, listening to music by his pool, eating chicken wings and cheesecake, and watching a good sunset at the beach.

Jim married Gloria Cartagena Borton on July 28, 1990 and together they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. They raised 2 children and 1 nephew: Christian James Borton, Ariana Jasmine Borton, and Hugo Alexander Cuellar. He especially loved visiting family in his hometown in Pennsylvania to celebrate the 4th of July, spending his birthday with his mom, cranberry sauce on Thanksgiving, and decorating the Christmas tree.

Jim is survived by his wife, Gloria, children Christian, Ariana (Mitchel Cabanas), and Alex, his sister Debra French (Scott French), niece Amy Philhower-Borton (Mike Philhower), and his many other beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Grace, and his brothers Larry and Charles.
