Age 82
James "Jimmy" "Jim" Donald Hall, 82, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed peacefully on September 1, 2025. Born December 2, 1942, in Wynne, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Fred and Ellen Hall.
Jim grew up in West Memphis, Arkansas, alongside his sister, Barbara Hall Lehr of West Memphis. After graduating from West Memphis Senior High School, he married the love of his life, Joy Ann Derrick, on July 29, 1962. Together, they shared 63 years of marriage filled with love, family, and faith. In 1974, they moved from West Memphis to Southwest Florida, where they built their life and community.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joy; their two children, Sandra "Sandi" Hall Bevill of North Port, FL, and Derrick Hall (Debbie) of Land O' Lakes, FL; three grandchildren, Richard "Ricky" Bevill (Adrianna) of Tampa, FL, Ty Hall of Tampa, FL, and Sara Bevill Verost (Marco) of Venice, FL; and three great-grandchildren, Luca Verost, Flora Bevill, and Sofia Verost.
Throughout his life, Jim worked as a skilled mechanic and technician with Buick/GMC, a service manager with Pontiac, and later as a handyman before retiring. He had a lifelong passion for working on cars, woodworking, gardening, and fixing anything that needed repair. Known for his generosity, Jim was always ready to help a neighbor, lend his talents to church work, or volunteer at community events. He especially enjoyed volunteering at car shows, and working the Port Charlotte High School football concession stand with his church family.
Above all, Jim loved God, his family, and sharing his faith with others. His joy for life and his devotion to those around him left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at Sonshine Baptist Church, 23105 Veterans Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33954. Casual dress is encouraged. Shorts welcome.
No black. Bring your Hot Rods! Food and fellowship will follow in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jim's memory to Sonshine Baptist Church, or Hospice.
Jim will be deeply missed, but his love, faith, and legacy will live on through his family and friends.
