IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jennifer
Duncombe
April 19, 1972 – September 2, 2025
Jennifer Joy Duncombe, passed away on September 2nd, 2025, after a lifelong battle with addiction.
Born on April 19th, 1972, in Beverly, MA,
Jennifer dedicated her life to her family.
She is survived by her mother: Susan Flint, her four children: David Royce, Jr., Katelyn Royce, Kiana Duncombe and Jasiah Duncombe, as well as two grandchildren: Antonio and Armani.
Jennifer was loved by all who knew her, lighting up any room she walked into.
Our hearts are broken but we know that she has finally found peace.
While Jennifer's story is unique and personal, it's sadly not uncommon.
There is no amount of anger, disappointment or sadness that can diminish the love we had for Jennifer, and if love alone was enough to save her, we wouldn't be memorializing her here, today.
Our family has chosen to share her story, publicly, in grief, but without shame. We hope that a true recounting of these personal demons might help others find a different path.
We would like to raise awareness on the importance of shifting away from criminalizing drug addiction, instead investing resources into healthcare and treatment.
Incarcerating people with drug addiction is the best way to ensure they remain addicted to drugs. Over 80% of all people in jail and prison have substance use disorders. With that being said, there is ample access to drugs in jail and no access to evidence-based treatment for substance abuse. This creates a vicious cycle for people with substance use disorders by placing them back into the same environment that got them there in the first place, and with more obstacles to overcome than ever before.
We hope and pray for a future that is more humane, more compassionate, and that no family has to feel as helpless as we have for so long.
At her best, Jennifer was effortlessly beautiful, funny, loving and smart. The day she died, a part of us died along with her. She will be missed, every day, for the rest of our lives.
A celebration of Jennifer's life will be held at a later time where those in attendance can share the good memories and time spent together.
