John Szylin, 96, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025. He was born on December 27, 1928, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Magdelena (Dyskiewiez) and Kazimierz Szylin.
John proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a military police officer stationed in Germany. Following his service, he began a 30-year career as a truck driver with Arrow Transportation, later founding his own company, Szy Leasing. He was a dedicated member of Teamsters Union Local 251 in Rhode Island.
After retiring, John and his beloved wife of 71 years, Eileen, enjoyed life as snowbirds, dividing their time between Warwick, RI, and Jensen Beach, FL. He loved spending time on the water, fishing, and hunting for the best deals at flea markets.
John is survived by his son, John Szylin II, and daughter-in-law, Doreen; his daughter, Ann, and son-in-law, Wayne Duelfer; four grandchildren—Amanda, Gregory, Jonathan, and Matthew; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; his three brothers, Anthony, Peter, and Edward; and his two sisters, Genevieve and Helen.
