Obituary

Mark A. Anderson was born on January 3, 1955, to the late Natt and Loraine Anderson in Royal Oak, MI. Mark passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, in Sarasota, FL.

Mark grew up in Troy, spending many summers on family vacations or with family on their farm in Ontario, Canada. He was very active in the Boy Scouts. Mark attended the Boy Scout World Jamboree in Ferragut, Idaho in 1969. He went on to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. Mark spent his senior year of high school in Aix-en-Provence, France then returned home to graduate with his class of 1973 from Avondale High School. He attended Whitworth College in Spokane, WA, spending his junior year at the University in Toulouse, France. Mark spent 4 years teaching English in the village of Mukedi in Zaire, Africa. Upon return to the states Mark attend McCormick Theological Seminary. He worked in Chicago and Indianapolis for the Men's League, a rehabilitation center for men. He moved to Sarasota, FL in 1998 and worked for the YMCA Youth Center and other jobs. Mark retired in 2005 due to health issues. Mark lived in Sarasota until his death in August.

Mark is survived by his younger sister, Elizabeth Rhoades, nephews, John Rhoades and Matthew Rhoades and niece Erin Eckhart.
