Mary Ann Ballew , age 74, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 9, 2025.

She was born on December 7, 1950, in Hollywood, Florida, to the late William Francis Morton and Dorothy Helen (Sutton) Morton .

Mary lived a life filled with love, kindness, and quiet strength. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her laughter, and her unwavering devotion to family and friends. Mary had a long and successful career as a mortgage loan officer and found great joy in spending her days playing pickleball and watching football.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Ballew; her son, Billy (William Glenn Roy III), with whom she shared a love for the Florida Gators — a bond that will forever remain a cherished part of their legacy; her parents, William and Dorothy Morton; her sisters, Alycia Eldridge and Jayne Ruley; her brother, Robert Morton; and her beloved dog, Jake.

Mary's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her dearly. She is survived by her sister, Carole (David) Culver ; her twin brother, Gary Morton ; her stepdaughter, Katie Ballew ; her former husband William Glenn Roy, Jr . and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her compassionate spirit, the family encourages those wishing to honor her memory to make a donation to an animal shelter of their choice .
