Obituary

Mary Helen Jensen, age 88, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025.

Mary was born October 19, 1936 in Appleton, Wisconsin to the late Albert and Bertha Denil.  Mary graduated from St. Mary Catholic High School, Neenah, Wisconsin and attended Mount Mary University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Mary and her late husband, Donald C. Jensen attended high school at the same time, they were re-acquainted when Don was home on Christmas leave after serving with the U.S. Army in Germany.  Don and Mary were married in 1958 after Mary's graduation from Mount Mary University. They moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where Don was attending the University of St. Thomas.  After Don's graduation they moved to Buffalo, N.Y., and later Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio during Don's career with Ernst & Young.

Mary was the beloved wife of Don for 66 years and was the loving mother of Mark Jensen (Cheryl); Elizabeth Wagner (David); Gregory Jensen (Tracy); Stephen Jensen (Roula) and Mary Jensen Eddy (Nils).

Mary was "Mimi" to her 10 grandchildren, Alex and Tyler Jensen; Michael, Nicholas and Claire Wagner; Kelly and Christian Jensen; and Jamie, Callie and Nicholas Jensen.  Mimi was also blessed with 15 great grandchildren.

Always guided in her Catholic faith, her life was centered on her love and support for Don and her family.   On many occasions, Don would say "I'm the luckiest person to have married your mom, but you five children are even luckier to have her as a mom".  She loved unconditionally.  The love expanded when grandchildren arrived as she and Don both extended that intense energy and support to the next generation.  Dear friends called them "Grandparents of the Year".  Mary's spirit was felt by so many.  She always put the needs of others in front of her own and had the unique ability to cultivate and maintain so many valued friendships from all parts of her life. People wanted to be with her and around her.  Even with her Parkinson's Disease, Mary's beautiful essence could be felt by all – the caregivers and staff who helped her daily said she was special.  We all knew this truth.

While living in Cleveland, Mary was active on the Women's Board for the Institute of Music; Womens Council of the Cleveland Museum of Art and a member of the TwentyFirst Century.   Mary loved the outdoors and traveling the world with Don and friends.  She passed this love of travel and adventure on to her children.  She especially loved her girls-only ski trips to the West and time she and Don spent at the R Lazy S Ranch in Jackson, Wyoming.  In Naples, she enjoyed her time volunteering at the Palm Cottage, playing bridge and golf with her many friends, planning action-packed itineraries when her children and grandchildren visited and sharing sunsets with a glass of Prosecco!

A private family Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. William Church in Naples, Florida in late October 2025.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mary's name may be made to Mount Mary University; 2900 Menomonee River Pkwy., Milwaukee, WI, 53222; or Sunlight Home of Collier County, P.O. Box 9194, Naples, Florida  34101.
