IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maryanne Edwards
Oliveira
June 22, 1953 – October 31, 2025
Maryanne Edwards Oliveira, 72, of Edgewater, Florida, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 31, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Maryanne was born in Lansdowne, PA, on June 22, 1953, to Leila S. and Mahlon S. Davis. Maryanne grew up surrounded by the warmth of her parents and the companionship of her brothers, Mahlon (Skip), John, and Robert (Bob) Davis. From this nurturing home, she carried forward a deep sense of love, honesty, and devotion that shaped every part of her life. She shared over 50 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Douglas, a partnership filled with love, mutual support, and steadfast affection. Together, they raised two children, Glenn and Meredith, whose lives were enriched by her guidance and encouragement, and later delighted in her grandchildren—Taylor, Matthew, Juniper, and Elowyn—each a bright reflection of her spirit and joy.
Maryanne lived with compassion, grace, and quiet strength. Honest, genuine, and refreshingly direct, she dedicated more than forty years to helping others as a registered nurse, social worker, and addiction counselor, touching countless lives with her empathy, insight, and encouragement. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's School of Nursing and Bridgewater State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work, Maryanne blended knowledge with heart, bringing wisdom, care, and understanding to every person she met. She possessed a rare gift for seeing the beauty in others, making everyone she encountered feel valued and understood.
Her passions filled her life with color and imagination. In her gardens—whether in Massachusetts or under the Florida sun—she nurtured vibrant blooms that mirrored her gentle spirit. She was a devoted reader and talented writer, delighting in stories, ideas, and the written word, and often sharing that love with those around her. Maryanne's faith guided her actions as a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Smyrna Beach, where she lived her beliefs through acts of kindness, generosity, and love.
Though preceded in death by her parents and brothers Skip and Bob, Maryanne's legacy lives on in her family and all whose lives she touched. Those who knew her will remember her radiant smile, her generous hugs, her unwavering honesty, and a heart overflowing with care—a love that inspired and uplifted everyone around her.
A memorial service celebrating Maryanne's life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church of New Smyrna Beach . In place of flowers, the family asks that you honor Maryanne by supporting the Child Fund or First Step Shelter , both causes that Maryanne held in her heart and lived values.
Maryanne's love will continue to bloom in the lives she touched, inspiring us all to carry forward her legacy of grace and love, a gift that will endure forever.
