IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Merline B.
Kovacik
June 7, 1937 – October 23, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Merline B. Kovacik, who left this world on October 23, 2025. She was born on June 7, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Guy Young Briggs and Celia Berrodin and was the wife of Emil Tom Kovacik, who preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters: Dr. Kathi J. Kemper, Kari K. Tudor, and Julie Kemper as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A lifelong learner, Merline graduated from Roosevelt High school, Harris Teachers' College, Lindenwood University, Webster University, and Eden Seminary. She dedicated her life to education, serving as a teacher inspiring countless students for twenty years. She maintained her dedication to education through her pastoral service in various churches, where she demonstrated her faith and compassion toward the community. She also served her community as a member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority, Math Club of Greater St. Louis, past president of Friendship Force of SW Florida, past Vice President of the Naples Ski club, and a wide variety of volunteer jobs.
Merline was known for her beautiful smile and her unwavering kindness, characteristics that touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She had a unique ability to make those around her feel valued and loved. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, as they remember her generosity, warmth, and the joy she brought into their lives.
There will be a private funeral service to honor Merline's life and the impact she made on those around her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider honoring her memory by giving to a charity of your choice.
