IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael B.
Reed
August 9, 1940 – September 11, 2025
Michael B. Reed left his earthly life on September 11, 2025, to join his heavenly family.
Born August 9, 1940, Mike was reared in Manheim, Pennsylvania by his loving parents, Alice and I. Richard Reed.
After graduating from high school, Mike enlisted in the Army. After his term of service, he earned his bachelor's degree at Ursinus College and his master's degree in counseling at Shippensburg State College in Pennsylvania.
While employed as a vocational evaluator at Willow Street Vo-Tech School in PA, he met his future wife, Shirley Squibb. In 1977 Mike and Shirley moved to Florida, got married, and spent the next 48 years together.
Mike was employed by the Florida Department of Labor Job Service and then with the Florida Vocational Rehabilitation department until his retirement in 2008.
Among Mike's many interests and hobbies were antique cars, World War II aircraft, fishing, traveling, and golfing. Mike shot a "hole in one" twice! The first time was at Indian Springs in PA and then again 30 years later at Cypress Head in Port Orange, FL.
Mike will be remembered as a wise, intelligent, modest, loving and gentle man, who treated everyone with kindness and respect. For those who knew and loved him, may his memory bring comfort and peace.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
