Obituary

Ross E. "Sparky" Willson, 74, passed away peacefully in his home on October 11, 2025, in Ocklawaha, Florida.  A proud American and devoted family man, Ross lived a life marked by service, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.
Born on April 8, 1951, in Buffalo, New York, Ross grew up with a strong sense of duty and patriotism. He served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. His time in the military remained a source of pride throughout his life and shaped his enduring commitment to the values he held dear.
Ross had a wide range of interests that reflected his curious mind and generous spirit. An avid nature photographer and enjoyed collecting vintage lenses.  Each one representing both a piece of history and a tool for capturing beauty through his unique perspective. His love for photography was matched by his talent in the kitchen; Ross was an excellent cook who delighted in sharing his favorite recipes with friends and neighbors. Whether preparing a hearty meal or experimenting with new flavors, he found joy in bringing people together through food.
Gardening was another of Ross's great passions. He cultivated not only plants but also purpose through his creation of "Willson's Pickett," a certified Monarch Waystation dedicated to supporting butterfly conservation. This sanctuary stood as a testament to his respect for nature and desire to make a lasting impact on the environment.
Ross is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, sister,  and  cousins. His legacy lives on in those who knew him best—through shared meals, cherished photographs, blooming gardens, and stories passed down from generation to generation.
A true patriot with an unwavering love for his country and community, Ross E. "Sparky" Willson will be remembered for the life he lived with integrity, creativity, and heart. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
