Obituary

Russell "Rusty" Wayne Cain, a proud Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, passed away unexpectedly on October 12, 2025. Born in Orlando, Florida on July 30, 1964, to Anita Carol and O'Gwynn Palmer Cain. Rusty was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta, and his parents. He is survived by his three children: Anita, Amanda (Brian), and Daniel; his four grandchildren: Haylee, Frank, Jamison, and Jose; and his three siblings: Candy (Jeffrey), Randolph, and Ronald (Dean).

Rusty was raised in Orlando and graduated from Boone High School in 1982. Rusty served in the Air Force from 1983 to 1992, achieving the rank of Sergeant. During his service, he was stationed in Operation Desert Storm and received numerous awards and ribbons for his leadership. He met his late wife, Loretta in August 1984, while stationed at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, in Ohio. They were married in June 1985, and Loretta gave birth to their first born in January 1986.

In 1987, after their second child was born and Rusty's tour in Alaska ended, they moved to McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, California. In March 1989, their only son was born. In August of 1992, Rusty's father became ill. His career with the Air Force ended and the family relocated to Azalea Park, Florida.

Upon returning to civilian life, Rusty worked for The City of Apopka, until he took an early retirement. In March 2018, Loretta passed away after a long battle with cancer. Over the next 7 years, Rusty would struggle to find peace. He traveled, and found joy in music, the beach, and deep-sea fishing. We pray his adventures brought him closer to Christ.

"Rusty will be remembered for his patriotism and friendship. The family will hold a private inurnment at a later date.

"Happy moments: Praise God

Quiet moments: Worship God

Painful moments: Trust God

Every moment: Thank God"
