Omeida (‘Meda) Louise Fentress Roberts, April 21, 1938 - March 16, 2026, died Monday at the age of 87. She is preceded in death by her husband, Griff H. Roberts, Jr., her son Scott Crosby Roberts, her parents Robert and Frances Fentress, Leitchfield, KY, her brother Robert (Bob) Fentress, Jr., Frankfort, KY, and her sister Kay Stanton, Leitchfield, KY. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Roberts, Lecanto, FL, and her sons, Kelly Roberts (wife Carolyn), Ocala, FL, and Bryan Roberts (wife Susan), Ft. McCoy, FL, 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 4 nieces, 5 nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

She attended Columbia College of Missouri, Columbia, MO, and Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, KY. ‘Meda first moved to Ocala in 1967 when her husband, Griff, accepted the position as City Manager of Ocala. After leaving Ocala in the 1980’s due to Griff’s career, they returned to Ocala in 1997 upon his retirement. She began a career as a medical office manager for Drs. Marks and Chambers in Ocala, in the 1970’s, and became actively involved in the Medical Assistants Association of Ocala, and the State of Florida, serving as president of both associations at different times. She continued her career in the medical field in some of the other cities where they resided.

She was a longtime member of First Christian Church Ocala, where she served as a Deacon and Elder, as well as Church Board Chair/Moderator, and held numerous committee positions and chairs. Her most recent and passionate service was as the Church Librarian. Her passions were her family, friends, reading, gardening, orchids, and entertaining. She was the consummate hostess. ‘Meda never knew a stranger and was a long-time and supportive friend to many.

All are welcome to join us for ‘Meda’s Celebration of Life this Saturday, March 21st, at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church Ocala, 1908 E Ft King St., Ocala, FL. As this will be a Celebration, do not feel compelled to wear black; colorful attire is welcome. ‘Meda enjoyed flowers during her lifetime and requests in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to First Christian Church Ocala. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
