Obituary

Pamela Kay Pomponi, 57, of Port Charlotte passed away Saturday, August 29th, 2026 in Fawcett Memorial Hospital. Born June 7th, 1969, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Stefan Karnafel and Vera Karnafel and was a retired Medical Billing Coder. Mrs. Pomponi attended Freedom Bible Church in North Port and enjoyed collecting Donald Duck items, painting rocks, writing, and spending time with her dog Molly and husband Joe Pomponi as well as her children, grandchildren and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Cynthia Yuhas and brother James Karnafel. Survivors include her husband Joseph Pomponi of Port Charlotte, FL; children including son Arthur Tucker and wife Rebecca Tucker of Concord, NC, daughter Stacy Tucker of San Diego, CA, son Zackary Miller and wife Amelia Miller of Hampton, VA, Joe’s daughter’s Gina Pomponi and husband Eric Walters of Malvern, PA, and Tara Whisenant and husband Walter Whisenant of Port Charlotte, FL; brother Tom Yuhas of Mondovi, WI, sister Donna Greenwell of Punta Gorda, FL; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Rebecca, Joe, Chase, Philip, Kaiah, Caroline, Maggie, Mason, and Zoey. Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 2nd at Freedom Bible Church with Pastor Frank Vargo officiating. A celebration of life will be held later, after which her ashes will be scattered. The family will gather for fellowship following the service. Memorial: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Pam’s honor.
