Obituary

Pamela Denise Young (Denise) passed away on January 9, 2023 in Tavares, Florida. She was 67 years old. Denise is survived by her husband, Thomas Singleton, her sons, Mackenzie Singleton, and Andrew Singleton, her five grandchildren, her brother Wyman (Ed) Young and his wife Bonnie Young, and her sister Debra Sawyer and her husband, Jerry Sawyer. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wyman and Josephine Young.

Denise was born on May 24, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended the University of Kansas where she graduated with a pharmacy degree. She married Thomas Singleton in 1984 in Lawrence, Kansas, where they resided with their two sons and she worked as a hospital pharmacist. She retired in 1999. In 2008, they moved to St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, where she enjoyed her love of cooking, plants, and pets. She volunteered as a guide at the St. George Village Botanical Garden in St. Croix.

Denise will be remembered as an energetic and compassionate woman who inspired those who had contact with her. In particular, she encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their goals and at the same time care for others. Education, both formal and informal, was very important to her and she continued to learn and take on new challenges. Her faith in God was her guide throughout her life. She passed away after a six-month struggle with cancer. Condolences may be sent to the Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home in Tavares, Florida. In place of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the St. George Village Botanical Garden in St. Croix, www.sgvbg.org.
