Obituary

Patricia “Patty” Atwood, 83, peacefully passed away on August 28, 2026, in Mount Dora, Florida, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Patty was born on January 23, 1943, in Hartford, Connecticut. She married the love of her life, Ray Atwood, on March 17, 1960. She was a proud owner of Ray’s Auto Body of Bolton, VT alongside her husband, Ray, in 1977.

Patty will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, loving, and gentle woman who treasured her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and especially enjoyed making chocolate chip cookies and other delicious treats from scratch. She loved long car rides, exploring new places, going to thrift shops, getting a creemee, and spending time with the people she loved. She was also a Trivia queen and enjoyed a good word search. Patty was very proud of all her children and their accomplishments, and she cherished the special relationships she shared with her loved ones.

She attended Methodist Church in Altona, Florida, and was a woman whose warmth and caring spirit touched many lives.

Patty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray Atwood; her sister, Judy Mayville; and her brother, Larry Caron.

She is survived by her loving family, including Corine Nicholson of Umatilla, Florida; Steve Atwood of Patchogue, New York; Mark Atwood and Tina Atwood of Roebuck, South Carolina; and Kristie Maddox of Greenbelt, Maryland, along with 18 grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

A memorial service will be held at Altona Methodist Church in Altona, Florida, with the committal to follow at Vermont Hills Cemetery on November 7, with a luncheon after. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Society.

Patty leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, family, and treasured memories. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
