Obituary

Patricia K. Gericke of Englewood, FL went to be with our Lord on October 2, 2026 at the age of 83. She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was born in Warren, PA, in 1943, and her family moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1957. She attended Pine Crest school and graduated with the class of 1961.

She met her husband, Albert Gericke, and they married in 1962. They moved to Texas in the early years of their marriage and then back to Fort Lauderdale in 1970. There they raised their three sons with great affection, an abiding faith, a series of cats, and a good brownie recipe.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, as well as their sons Albert, Scott (wife Sarah), and Kevin (wife Lisa) Gericke. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chris, Robin, Catie, Erin, Autumn, Amelia, Scarlett and Sadie, were her great joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Goudy for whom she was a caregiver in their final years, and her grandson Jake Gericke.

She grew up going to church at First Presbyterian Church of Ft Lauderdale before attending Christ Church United Methodist. While at Christ Church, Pat used her gifts of music to serve two generations. She was Youth Choir Director and Bell Choir Conductor. She sang in the Chancel Choir and was a bell ringer in the adult bell choir. She played a central role as office manager at the family company, Seven Keys Company of Florida, which distributed tropical jams, jellies, spreads and juices across the United States and beyond. Pat appreciated the flavors of Florida (except when the guavas were cooking at Seven Keys), and she had a deep affection for living in the south, loved its lack of snow but dearly missed the changing autumn leaves. She was a self-taught photographer, rose and botanical garden enthusiast, lover of cats and wildlife and had a broad knowledge of the hundreds of seashells she collected. Her needlepoint and crochet are the lasting art of her hands. She made blankets for all the babies of the family.

She will be deeply missed. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association (Alzheimer's Association ).
