Patricia Green
Connell
May 18, 1942 — Jul 15, 2026
Dunnellon, Florida
Patricia "Pat" Green Connell, 84, of Dunnellon, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026.
Pat was born on May 18, 1942, in Orange, New Jersey, to Elizabeth Scott Green and Harry Parberry Green. She grew up in Haverford, Pennsylvania, and on July 27, 1968, married David Francis Connell Jr. in the Chapel at Villanova University. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared over 5 decades of marriage.
Pat and Dave began raising their family in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, before settling primarily in Fairfax, Virginia, where Pat formed countless lifelong friendships and became deeply involved in her community. She dedicated much of her time to volunteering with her children's schools and athletic organizations, serving in leadership roles with the PTA, the Fairfax County Police Youth Club (FCPYC), and numerous other community organizations and activities. She also enjoyed venturing into small business opportunities. Later, after moving to Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Pat discovered a love for golfing and trying her luck at the slot machines at local casinos.
Pat embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. She loved playing bridge and just about any card game, gardening, creating arts and crafts, bowling, tennis, and golf. She was the life of every party, known for her quick wit and playful sense of mischief that endeared her to her closest friends and strangers alike. Pat especially cherished spending time with her favorite people during trips to Ocean Grove, NJ, Clemo Pond in the Poconos, and Dewey Beach and Fenwick Island, Delaware, where countless treasured memories were made. She had a generous heart, always standing up for the underdog and extending generosity to those in need.
Her compassion for animals was one of her defining qualities. Pat never met an animal in need that she didn't want to help, and she had a special place in her heart for cats. In retirement, she remained active in her community while living in Boca Raton, Florida, and later volunteered at a local cat sanctuary in Ocala, where she found great joy caring for homeless felines.
Pat is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, David "Dave" Connell Jr.; her loving children, Laurie Monastero, her husband, Mike Monastero, and their sons, Nicholas and Anthony; Carol Lynn Connell; and David Francis Connell III, his wife, Jennifer Waite Connell, and their children, Joshua and Emily.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Scott Green and Harry Parberry Green; her sister, Elizabeth Green Barnhill; her twin brother, Robert Green; and her beloved cats, Samantha, Butter, and Patches, who held a special place in her heart.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a local animal rescue organization or to Sheltering Hands Cat Rescue in Ocala, Florida.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the medical team at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital for their compassionate care and support during Pat's final days.
Pat's sass, energy, humor, dedication to those she cared for, and compassion for animals touched countless lives. Her legacy lives on in the friendships she cultivated, the family she cherished, and the many lives that were changed because of her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of experiencing life with her.
