Patricia Louise
Hennigan Martin
May 19, 1950 — Aug 26, 2026
Patricia "Patti" Louise Hennigan Martin passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, following a brief illness. She was a loving, kind, and generous woman who had a way of making people feel welcome, cared for, and loved. Her warmth, sense of humor, and generous spirit brought joy to the lives of so many, and she will be remembered for the love and kindness she shared so freely.
Patti grew up in Sandwich, Massachusetts, and throughout her life called many places home, including Yarmouth and Plymouth, Massachusetts, as well as Phoenix, Arizona and Port Charlotte, Florida. She spent her working years in the service industry, a fitting career for someone who genuinely enjoyed people and had a natural ability to make connections wherever she went.
Patti found happiness in the simple things—good friends, good times, and the people she loved. She enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends and cherished the friendships she made throughout her life. She and her husband, Grover "Rusty" Martin, shared a life filled with adventures and memories. They loved spending their summers together in Maine and, when fall arrived, were always happy to return to Florida and the friends who had become such an important part of their lives.
Above all else, Patti loved her family.
She was very proud of her children, Tina and Chris, and enjoyed seeing them build their own lives, careers and families. She loved being their mom and was proud of the people they had become.
She adored her three grandsons, Tommy, Jack, and Drew. They brought her an immeasurable amount of joy, and she treasured every moment she was able to spend with them. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, and the love she had for them was something they could always feel. The memories they made together, the laughter they shared, and the love she gave them will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
Patti also had a generous heart when it came to helping others. She and Rusty regularly volunteered their time at local VFW charitable events, giving back to their community and helping those in need. It was simply part of who Patti was—she cared about people, and she was always willing to give her time, her kindness, and her heart.
Patti was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Dorothy Gibbs, and her older brother, Edwin Gibbs.
She leaves behind her husband, Grover "Rusty" Martin; her daughter, Tina Andre, and son-in-law, Ronald Andre; her son, Christopher Hennigan, and daughter-in-law, Judi Hennigan; and her three beloved grandsons, Tommy Andre, Jack Andre, and Drew Andre. She is also survived by her siblings, Alvin Gibbs, Jimmy Gibbs, Richard Gibbs, and Tammy Thierwechter, as well as extended family and many dear friends whose lives were made better by knowing her.
Patti leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories. She will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, her laughter, her love of friendship, and, most of all, the love she had for her family. For those who loved her, there will always be reminders of her—in a favorite memory, a familiar laugh, a game of Bingo, a summer day in Maine, or a gathering with family and friends.
Her family will miss her more than words can express. But they will carry her love with them, in the stories they tell, the memories they share, and in the love they continue to give one another—the greatest legacy Patti could have left behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Giardino's Family Restaurant in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts. Family and friends are warmly invited to come together to celebrate Patti's life, share memories, laughter, and stories, and honor the wonderful woman she was. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your local Hospice organization.
