Patricia Dye Schreckengost died May 10, 2021, in Ocala, Florida, following a brief illness. Born August 28, 1935, she was the daughter of William H. Jr. and Margery W. Dye. On February 6, 1965, she married James C. Schreckengost, Sr., at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Olean. Jim died May 23, 2019.

Pat graduated from Olean High School in 1953 and was a graduate of Michigan State University.

She was an elementary school teacher before marrying and raising a family. She also was a longtime member of the Olean General Hospital Auxiliary and the Allegany Area Historical Society. She was a Bluebirds and Camp Fire Girls leader. Later in life, she enjoyed studying history and other subjects through adult education courses. Pat loved vacationing in Canada and in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where she swam fearlessly in the churning ocean water. Pat was a member of Christ the King Anglican Church in Ocala. She was previously a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Olean, where she was a longtime member of the altar guild.

Pat is survived by her sons, James Jr., of Columbia, North Carolina, Jeffrey (Lisa), of Pittsburgh; daughter Jill (Robert) Sherman, of Fruitland Park, Florida; grandchildren William Schreckengost and Gregory and Molly Sherman; sister Margery (Robert) MacKendrick, of Milford, Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews.
