Obituary

Casey Lynch, age 66, died of pancreatic cancer on July 2, 2025, at home under hospice care. We are grateful to the family and friends who visited our Daytona Beach home to share stories, laughter, and most importantly, their goodbyes. Casey was the life of the party, loved by all who knew him well, and especially by his wife of 36 years, Kristine Van Every Lynch.

Casey was born in Chicago, IL on October 26, 1958. He attended Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School, then Cary-Grove High School and graduated in 1976. Later he attended Illinois State University. He played and later coached for the Cary Youth Baseball program. In high school, he wrestled, played baseball and golf. He both organized and played for many softball teams and in tournaments in the greater Cary area after college.

Casey's life changed most significantly when he met, then married, Kris on October 15, 1988. The pair were a great match in so many ways. Together they lived in Cary, IL, Lake Mary, FL and Daytona Beach, FL. Wherever he lived, he made new friends, but it was his lifelong compadres from Cary who always meant so much to him.

Casey continued to play sports into his 50's. He played men's softball, co-ed softball and co-ed volleyball. He and Kris also loved to golf, although she would beat him occasionally, just to keep him humble. Sports always played an important part of Casey's life. He was fortunate to have seen his favorite Chicago teams; Da' Bears, the White Sox, the Blackhawks and the Bulls all win championships in his lifetime. A rare feat and a cherished memory.

Casey worked for Universal Instruments, Lynch Data Processing/SafePay, and CNA Insurance. He retired in 2015. He was hard working, efficient and persistent when it came to problem solving of any sort and was always willing to take on new challenges. He had an incredible ability to memorize facts and statistics in many areas of knowledge and found great joy in imparting such knowledge to his family and friends, often spewing out facts ala Cliff Clavin at Cheers!

Casey is survived by his wife Kris, his sisters and brothers-in law: Robbie Terpstra (Gary), TN; Catherine Pleil (Joachim), NC; Beth Dwyer (Tim), CT; Meg Meyer (Dick), NC; his brother John Lynch Jr. (Patrice), CO; and brother-in-law Joel Gomez (Kristin), VA. He was a favorite uncle – he would like to say THE favorite — to his many nieces and nephews, and beloved by his numerous Lynch and Wyman relatives.  Casey was predeceased by his parents, John G. Lynch, Sr. and Roberta Wyman Lynch, and his sister, Emily Gomez.

Casey will be remembered at a Celebration of Life service at the Cary Country Club, 2400 Grove Lane, Cary, IL on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 1 pm, with a repast to follow. Casey will also be celebrated in Daytona Beach at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to Halifax Hospice of Port Orange at: https://halifaxhealth.org/hospice-information/give or your favorite charitable organization in his memory.  His laughter, kindness, and zest for life will remain in our hearts forever.
