We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Patrick James Murphy, age 81, of Cape Coral Florida, passed away on January 13, 2024, in Hope Hospice of Cape Coral surrounded by his family.

Patrick was born in Tampa, Florida to Raymond and Mary Murphy on August 26, 1942. He graduated from St. Mary's Seminary & University in Baltimore, Maryland. He went on to graduate from the United States Naval Officer Candidate School,and served aboard the USS Independence as a naval officer. Patrick married Maria Valderama on March 11, 1967 in Charleston, South Carolina. He is survived by his wife Maria Murphy, his two sons Raymond and Michael Murphy, his daughter-in-law Sandra Murphy, and his three granddaughters, Alexa Murphy, Michaela Murphy and Kayley Letcher.

The family extends their welcome to the funeral mass which will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 1922 SW 20th Ave., Cape Coral, FL 33991. Patrick will be buried the following day, Friday, February 16, 2024, 10:30 a.m., at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
