Paul Douglas (Doug) Chaffin- March 3, 1945 — March 12, 2017

Paul Douglas (Doug) Chaffin, 72, died Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Halifax Care Center in Edgewater, FL after a short fight with cancer.  Born March 3, 1945, in Mansfield, Ohio, he has lived in Mansfield, OH, Oak Harbor, OH and Oak Hill, FL.  He is a retired employee of Gorman Rupp, was a Charter Boat Captain on Lake Erie and a boat broker.  Doug's passion was fishing with other interests including, riding his motorcycle, spending time with friends and family and after retirement, living summers in Ohio and winters in Florida.

Surviving are his fiancee, Ellen Brindley of Oak Harbor, OH; his ex-wife and best friend, Christine Chaffin of Mansfield, OH; three daughters (spouse/fiance); Marlene (Dan) Baldwin of Traverse City, MI; June Kleier (Mark Florentine) of Scottsdale, AZ; Paula (Bart) Thacker of Rockledge, FL;  four grandchildren, Ryder Thacker (Emily Smart) of Orlando, FL;  Jacob Speelman of Mansfield, OH;  Katie and Robby Kleier of Scottsdale, AZ; a sister, Otalee Boggs of New Smyrna Beach, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Norma (Burke) Chaffin; two brothers, W. Ray Chaffin and Don Chaffin; two sisters, June Chaffin and Doris Parsons; and his beloved (dog) companion, Bear.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life event will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 2 pm to 6 pm at the Annex Lounge & Event Center, 417 Orange St., Mansfield, OH.  Baldwin Brothers, A Funeral & Cremation Society of New Smyrna Beach, FL is in charge of the cremation and hosting the online guest registry at www.baldwincremation.com.
