Obituary

Paul David Kerr was born on July 19, 1944, in Westmoreland, Jamaica, to Cecily and Blondel Kerr. He spent his early years in Kingston with his grandmother, Hannah, where he first met his lifelong companion and dear friend, Eleanor Anderson, during elementary school.

After graduating from Mannings High School in Jamaica, Paul began his working life with the Montego Bay Parish Council before returning to Kingston to work for Hopwood Pharmaceutical Company. He later renewed his friendship with Eleanor, and the two were married in May 1968. Together they built a loving family and were blessed with two daughters, Leesa and Sophia.

Paul built part of his career in the food industry while working at Grace Kennedy in Jamaica and migrated to the United States in 1976. He was employed by West Palm Beach Utilities before the family moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where he returned to the hospitality industry at Kiawah Island Resort, serving in stewarding and food and beverage cost control. Later, wanting to be closer to family, they moved to Fort Lauderdale, where Paul continued his work in food and beverage cost control with the Boca Raton Hotel, Rock Resorts, and for a short time at the Biltmore Hotel in Miami, Florida.

After a brief illness, Paul moved with his family to Ocala, Florida, where he worked in Accounting at The Villages and remained until his retirement in 2012. Paul will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Eleanor; his daughters, Leesa, and Sophia; his grandsons, Austin, Adrian, and Nicolas; his great-grandchildren, Ava and Angelo; his brothers, Douglas and Trevor; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family members, and dear friends.

Funeral arrangements are scheduled on Thursday, May 28th, 2026, at 10:00am ET at St. Jude Catholic Parish, 443 Marion Oaks Dr, Ocala, FL 34473.
