Obituary

Paul Dean McDonald (84) of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away December 18, 2025.

Paul was born on the family farm in Orion Township, Fulton County, Illinois. His parents, Owen Keith and Bertha Mildred (Northrup) McDonald, moved the family to Genoa City, Wisconsin in 1948. Paul married Virginia Sue McDonald on February 21, 1983. Paul was a Barber for ten years and then a Lieutenant on the Janesville Fire Department in Wisconsin until retirement. Paul and Sue moved to Bonita Springs to enjoy their retirement. Paul didn't want to spend another winter in Wisconsin. Paul had a mentor in Bonita Springs who shared his wood carving skills and Paul took to that and became a Master Woodcarver. He shared his knowledge with beginners at his woodcarving club. He loved traveling, biking, hiking, and fishing at their summer home in Wisconsin.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Sue McDonald; sons, Tom (Rachel) McDonald, Elroy, WI, Kurt Von Falkenstein, Vallejo, CA, Todd (Diana) Janke, Schofield, WI, Craig (Tammy) Janke, Hortonville, WI, and Tobin Janke, Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Tracy (Roger) Knutson, Rushford, MN; his grandchildren, Selena (Travis) Gelking, Nicholas (Karina) McDonald, Emma Schuster, Nicholas Knutson, Cole Knutson, Mathew Janke, Michael Janke, Isabelle Janke, Tyler Janke, Vanessa Janke, Ryan Janke, Bryce Janke, and Blake Janke; and great grandchildren, Evelyn, Thomas, Lincoln, and Henry; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gary MacDonald, Teresa Hering, Mary Miller, Sandy McDonald, Sabra Burkoth, and William McDonald; and grandchild, Madalyn Janke.

Memorial services will be at a later date.
